Vesper Fruit

The title of this series (Vesper Fruits), uses the Latin word vesper meaning evening, referring to the last moments of the day or, in the case of these fruits, the end stage of their life cycle. The warm colours of the assembled objects are illuminated by the captivating quality of mid-winter, early evening light, by which the fragile textures of their decaying surfaces are revealed. Precariously stacked  they hold back the inevitable forces of time for a brief moment, just as the darkness of the night sky sets in.
